The Kaaba, one of the Islam's holiest places is placed in the middle of Al-Masjid Al-Нaram (Arabic: المسجد الحرام‎, The Sacred Mosque or The Grand Mosque) in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the largest mosque in the world.

One of the Five Pillars of Islam requires every Muslim to perform the Нajj pilgrimage at least once in his or her lifetime if able to do so. Multiple parts of the Нajj require pilgrims to walk seven times around the Kaaba in a counter-clockwise direction (as viewed from above). The Tawaf is also performed by pilgrims during the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage).
